Trip Overview
This trip promises to be an unforgettable family journey to South Africa, blending wildlife, conservation, community, culture, and meetings with key figures, as discussed. You will enjoy remarkable sightings of iconic wildlife—from elephants to warthogs—within their natural habitats while learning about essential conservation efforts that protect these species.
Phase 1 of your journey begins with your arrival at a luxury Big 5 Game Reserve. Here, you’ll embark on morning and afternoon guided safaris, where there’s every chance of encountering elephants and big cats. The camp is situated in the Kruger/Manyeleti area, sharing unfenced borders with the world-renowned reserves of Timbavati to the north and Sabi Sand to the south.
Phase 2 takes you to a remote bush camp along the stunning Tugela River in KwaZulu-Natal, where we conduct our regular giraffe field studies. From here, we’ll also visit the Zulu community, a local school, and the Colenso orphanage supported by Africa Wild Trails.
Phase 3 wraps up your adventure with a relaxing stay at the Big 5 safari location of Nambiti Private Game Reserve.
The trip will include accommodations in three distinct locations, as outlined in your maps and itinerary.

There are no lions, elephants, rhino or buffalo in the Giraffe Field Study Location
These species and many others are resident in your Big 5 safari locations and I certainly hope you will
get a sighting of all of them during your safari phase. You will be in the right locations for great sightings!
