What a Year – 2018 was Incredible for AWT Venture Members!

Africa Wild Trails delivered a wide variety of diverse and challenging ventures and research projects for young people and adults this year. These ranged from highly adventurous and remote expeditions, important vulnerable wildlife species field work to the most incredible safari experiences!

Bringing people closer to nature through our educational ventures for young people is core to our ethos and we are so proud to have continued this in 2018 and 2019 looks even better. There are many skills learnt in these faraway places of our planet and so many of those skills are transferable into our everyday lives.

We have noted more than ever that those young people who choose to spend time in nature benefit from increased physical and mental health, increased feelings of wellbeing, mindfulness and gratitude. As well as benefiting from decreased feelings of stress, tension, anxiety and anger as they become more self-assured, self-reliant and self-confident. This is the power of nature based projects and we are all looking forward to putting in place these life enhancing experiences for the 2019 venture members.

2019 will see a planned increased in the amount of field work and vulnerable species research taking place in southern Africa with key partners and field experts. Our focus will remain largely on the South African/Cape Giraffe as the challenges for giraffe remain little known and there is little or no funding available for this work to be completed.

We will also continue towards our goal of engaging 15,000 primary and secondary school children and young people on the subject of giraffe conservation by the end of April 2019. Please help by letting us know if there is a school near you that would appreciate this talk.

We are excited to be working alongside the digital marketing company, Talkativeonline, and through this collaboration we aim to raise thousands of pounds for African wildlife conservation and threatened species in the coming years through our new company, Wild Trails International.

As we say a fond goodbye to an incredible 2018, we look forward to everything that 2019 will bring!

Here’s to a very Merry Christmas and an adventurous New Year!
